Oppenheim Violin/Viola Studio Recital
On a weekly basis Rebecca teaches violin and viola lessons to students ranging in age from seven to twelve. These students reside from Wilmette, Winnetka, Glencoe and Highland Park. The lessons focus on technique, music literacy, and solo repertoire. In December went to a senior home and played solos for the residents and concluded with an ensemble holiday sing along. Students took away from this recital the importance of sharing the gift of music with others.

Symphony Orchestra
The Symphony Orchestra was the most advanced curricular ensemble at Maine South High School. This ensemble met on a daily basis and was made up of primarily upperclassman. The program for the year consisted of a Fall Classical Concert, Winter Holiday Performance, Middle School Progress Concerts, Chamber Music Concerts and culminated in a Pops Concert. The Chamber Orchestra was an extracurricular advanced ensemble offered before school. Students were required to be registered for a curricular orchestra for participation. This ensemble was made up of extraordinary young people who wanted to play more music in an more intimate setting. We performed repertoire that was appropriate for a smaller ensemble. This group did outreach at the elementary and middle schools. We would travel and work with younger students creating a very important collaboration with the middle and elementary schools. String Orchestra and Advanced Dance

It is a passion of Rebecca's to plan and perform performances that include the arts and disciplines across the district. It important for students to work with other colleagues across artistic disciplines to gather an even greater understanding of their own art. Throughout Rebecca's experience at Maine South orchestra students collaborated with drama students, visual art students, media students, and dance students. Here is an example of the Maine South Freshman Orchestra collaborating with the Maine South Advanced Dance program. The students are performing "The James Bond Theme" by Monty Norman arr. Victor Lopez.
Middle School & High School Collaboration
with Mark Wood​

It is important to collaborate with colleagues across a district to allow students to grow and succeed to the best of their ability level. In Park Ridge all Middle School and High School Students collaborated with Mark Wood to put on a Rock Concert. Mark Wood has performed with Ozzy Ozbourne, Lenny Kravitz, and "The Who". He was an original member of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. It was a wonderful growing and learning experience for all students and teachers! ORCHESTRA BOARD

Student leadership is so essential to the success of any orchestra program. It gives students a sense of ownership and responsibility. At Maine South I created a student leadership opportunity called the Maine South Orchestra Board. Students held the following positions: President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Secretary and Classroom Interior Decorator. The Maine South Orchestra Board planned social events, helped with classroom responsibilities and recruiting. We had a night where middle school students would come to the High School and students would rehearse together, eat pizza, play ice-breakers and conclude with watching a movie in the auditorium. I continue to have a love for playing and performing music. I believe that students grow and learn by example so I must always be performing at the highest level possible. Above are examples of me playing my solo masters recital and performing with the Luminesce Quintet.
