
Rebecca Pascal Oppenheim is a passionate music educator who is currently an orchestra director at Avoca West School and her past experience includes being Director of Orchestras at Maine South High School for fourteen years. She was honored during her tenure with the "Outstanding Educator Award" from the University of Chicago. Rebecca's orchestral experience as a violist includes participation in the following ensembles: Henry Mancini Orchestra of Los Angeles, Civic Orchestra of Chicago, Park Ridge Civic Orchestra, and Highland Park Strings. Rebecca has also served as a guest rehearsal conductor for both the Chicago Youth Orchestras and Park Ridge Civic Orchestra and she served as a conductor for three years at the Chicago Suzuki Summer Institute. She has conducted clinics, sectionals or festivals at New Trier High School, Libertyville High School, Niles West High School, Niles North High School, Fremd High School, Palatine High School, and several other schools in the surrounding areas. She has been a guest speaker at Northwestern University, Roosevelt University, Vandercook and North Park School of Music and served as ILMEA orchestra representative for District 7. Rebecca is a proud alumni of Northwestern University where she completed both her undergraduate and graduate degrees in Music Education. Rebecca currently resides in Glencoe with her husband Daniel Oppenheim and her two sons Avery and Charlie.
